I love to try new fun folds, and when I saw Iced Images do a video on this Winged Pop Up Diamond Card, I knew I had to try it out! Here's the video if you'd like to have a go at it, too: 5" x 7" Winged Pop-Up Diamond Card.
My husband and I recently had the opportunity to spend a day aboard my daughter's aircraft carrier for Friends and Family Day, and while we were on the ship, we were able to see one of my daughter's best friends receive a promotion from Petty Officer 3rd Class to Petty Officer 2nd Class. It was wonderful to see the ceremony and be able to congratulate Emily's friend Hea in person! I had sent Hea several cards over the last deployment and even talked to her through What's App a few times while speaking to my daughter, so I felt like I knew her even before I met her in person. I definitely knew I needed to make her a special congratulations card once I returned home, and this is the card I made for her.
I chose some pretty pattern paper that had been in my stash for AGES and found some coordinating teal and white cardstock for the layers. I trimmed everything according to the measurements in the video linked above and then die cut Altenew's Zero Waste: Berries and Branches die out of a couple pieces of watercolor cardstock I had watercolored using Altenew's Dusk Watercolor Marker Reinker and Altenew's Quinacidrone Magenta watercolor from the Palette Perfection Watercolor Tube Bundle. I die cut the word "congrats" and its shadow using Altenew's Versatile Greetings 2 die set.
For the back of the card, I die cut the letters of Hea's name using Altenew's Linear Pathway Alpha die set. I thought that added a special touch.
I've recently become an affiliate for Altenew, so if you are interested in ordering something lovely from Altenew and would like to use my link, thank you very much! Here's the link: Carrie's Altenew affiliate page
